Whether you’re a working parent wanting more control over your schedule, a single person looking to supplement your income from home, or even a retiree looking for something important to do with your golden years, you can develop a Christian home business to accomplish those goals.
Your opportunities are as diverse as you are unique. Identify what you’re good at, or if you don’t know, ask your friends and family. Sometimes they see things in you that are strengths that you just take for granted. And yet they offer you a chance to develop a home based business that can help other Christians.
Are you good with computers? Many people make great extra money by offering web design services or helping people install and configure new computer purchases. If you’re a geek, this can be to your advantage! That’s a talent that most people don’t have.
Do you like learning about the internet? There are tremendous opportunities for a Christian home-based business as you either offer your own products for sale or become an affiliate or re-seller for other Christian businesses to earn referral commissions. You can literally reach the whole world online from your own home office without the cost of having a physical store or office, and in fact you can do much better because of the ease of reaching thousands more customers.
Maybe you’re good with speaking and teaching. There are opportunities all around you to develop courses in areas of your expertise. Community colleges are an opportunity to pursue, as well as your local adult education services. You can integrate a scriptural basis into your talks, articles, and newsletters to help spread biblical truth while reaching many new people and developing new avenues of service and extra income.
Another teaching related opportunity is tutoring. So many kids today are falling behind in school due to many factors. Parents are busy, teachers have large class loads, and the kids who learn differently often really struggle. Private tutoring pays very well and you can literally make a life-changing difference for a student’s future.
Along the same lines, develop some classes for the large homeschooling market in your area. When we homeschooled, there were parents offering private classes in everything from chemistry to art to drama to gymnastics to woodworking or sewing. These are areas that many homeschool parents don’t have expertise in and they will gladly pay to give their kids some extracurricular options. Because many homeschoolers are Christian, here’s a terrific home based opportunity for you, because you share a worldview of the precepts in God’s Word and have that basis of being like-minded.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for ideas for your own Christian home based business opportunity. Think through where God has gifted you and what you have to offer others. Get help where you need it and make a plan. Pray for your business every day and ask God’s direction for each step and soon you’ll begin the live the adventure that He has planned for you!
