Taking the Mystery out of Mystery Shopper Jobs

Visitors: 144

There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding the whole idea of mystery shopping. You might even get the idea that is why they use the words mystery and secret shoppers, but the idea is really based on a solid concept, and this is one mystery that I am qualified to unravel.

My wife and I were experiencing a slow period in my business. I work full time on the Internet, doing internet marketing and I love it. But when things slowed down for me enough that I was worried about where I was going to find money for groceries I started to look into almost any legal avenue of making some extra cash to help through the lean times. I remembered that a friend of mine had done some mystery shopping so I asked him for advice.

What he told me actually opened my eyes to a whole new world, one that would help me not only to make money while shopping but would reimburse me for the things that I bought. I found out that there are actually mystery shopper jobs available in almost every area of the United States and I signed up and began working as a secret shopper.

Before becoming a mystery shopper I thought that you could shop anywhere and then sell your opinion to the store, but actually the stores contract you out through a mystery shopping broker (for lack of a better word) and you have very specific assignments that include asking questions, checking response times and seeing if they ask you things that they were trained to ask. At first it was awkward to do secret shopping but now it's old hat to me and I do at least one a day.

So having a mystery shopper job is not as big of a mystery as it used to be. I get sent out to shop at grocery stores and gas stations, department stores and restaurants. We get free movies and popcorn and a couple dollars in our pocket just for evaluating movies and the people that work there. So hop on board and give secret shopping a try, you might find that it's not that big of a mystery after all.

Tim and his wife spend some time every day mystery shopping at area stores and resteraunts.
