How can you lose 10 pounds in a week without doing any exercise? Simple - diet. Why diet? because diet is what determines how many calories you get. Without a good diet it's impossible to lose weight. You could be working out 4 hours a day and still not lose weight if you eat enough to cover the energy expanded during those 4 hours plus what you normally eat. Don't get me wrong, exercise certainly help, and your results will be even better if you work out. But you still have to monitor what you eat - if you usually don't work out, as you begin to exercise your body will burn more calories than usual, this will make you hungry and you will eat more than usually. The result is that many people who exercise but don't monitor their diet stay at the same weight.

This is why diet is key to losing weight. What diet to choose? This can be a hard question, with so many diets and diet plans all promising results, how do you pick the right one? There are many aspects to look at when picking your diet, but the key questions to ask yourself would be: does it make sense? If a diet makes no sense to you, then it probably doesn't work. Are the testimonials for it look real? Sorry, a diet that shows a 300 pound guy before and a body builder for “after" isn't good, it's possible that it's actually the same person in both photos but the results have little to do with the diet at question.
