If you want to lose weight you have a lot of options- diet pills, patches, diets, work out programs and even surgeries. Some of these options work to varying degrees, however only if you lose weight naturally will you keep it off. To lose weight naturally you have to expand more energy than you get from food, doing so will create a shortage and force your body to burn fat. The best way to do so is by following a diet and working out. Working out will make you healthier, more fit and will make it so that you lose fat and not muscles. Diet is needed to make sure that you eat an amount of calories that is low enough to create a calorie shortage which you need to burn fat.

Workout programs:

There are literally thousands of different work out programs, choosing the right one depends on what you want to get from it (lose weight, get more toned or become fit etc) and also what you are willing to put into it. While this article doesn't cover work out programs, there are two keys that are widely accepted as the keys to losing weight: work outs must be varied to keep your body from adapting. Work out that involve weight lifting- like olympic lifts or kettle bells stimulate rapid weight loss. However, any exercise is better than none, so just doing something is good enough since diet is the real key.

Diet plans:

Diet is the real key to weight loss because no matter how much you work out, if you don't control what you eat you will over eat, enough to cover all the calories burned during your work out, and then some. Because of this diet is extremely important. There are many diets to choose from. Here is an easy and free diet plan: eat small meals 5-6 times a day, meals should consist of lean meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. Very easy and free! Unfortunately most people can't follow a self regulated diet. As such I recommend a meal replacement plan, like medifast. Very simple and tends to produce better results since it's easier to follow it than your own diet.
