3 Summer Weight Loss Tips Lose Weight and Feel Great This Summer

Let's face it, bulky winter clothing (which conveniently hides a few extra pounds), cold nights and lots of holidays that center around food sure make it easy to put on extra weight over the winter. Unfortunately that means that when summer rolls around and it is time to bring out the cute summertime outfits many of us find ourselves needing to lose a little weight. If this sound familiar don't fret! Here are 3 easy summer weight loss tips to get you back in your cute warm-weather clothing in no time:

1. Drink lots of water.

Did you know that simply drinking a lot of water is a great way to lose weight? It's true. Drinking water helps with weight loss in a lot of different ways. First off, many times when you feel hungry you are actually thirsty. That means that by drinking lots of water you are going to not be as hungry and it will be easy to avoid careless snacking.

Drinking enough water also allows your body to flush out a lot of impurities and helps to eliminate water weight that your body has stored away. Not only will drinking plenty of water help you with your summer weight loss efforts and keep you hydrated on those hot summer days, but it will keep your skin looking great too - bonus!

2. Build some muscle.

A lot of people think that cardiovascular exercises like running or biking are the best way to lose weight. Actually, though, strength training to build muscle is really important in helping you lose weight quickly. See, muscle takes a lot more energy for your body to maintain than fat, and your body provides that energy by burning calories. That means that the more lean muscle you have in your body the faster your metabolism is going to run, the more calories you will burn even while you are just relaxing or hanging out, and the easier it will be to lose weight.

Ladies, don't worry about bulking up - it just won't happen unless you are really trying to make it happen. Instead, what will happen is that you will get lean, toned and sculpted with a body that will look great in a bathing suit! To get the most bang for your buck work on building the larger muscle groups in your body by doing squats and lunges.

Adding lean muscle to your body not only will help you boost your metabolism, but will also give your body a more sleek and toned look which will look great in shorts or a bathing suit during the summer.

3. Eat small, frequent meals.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner, right? Nope! Try breaking your food intake down into 5 or 6 smaller meals throughout the day. Not only will this keep you from getting hungry between meals, but it also helps to keep your metabolism running strong. That means you'll lose weight faster and be wearing those summer short-shorts before you know it.
