Apparently there is some kind of diet on the market which claims that it can help you lose 18 pounds in 4 days. I first learned about it when someone asked me whether or not it was possible. This article deals with that question.
Is it really possible to lose 18 lbs in 4 days? I don't believe it is, and until someone shows me it can be done and proves it scientifically, I'll hold this opinion. To drop 18 lbs in just 4 days requires that you create a massive calorie deficit which is literally impossible to achieve in such a short time. You'd have to be running 4 days straight, hoping to burn enough energy, and even then, it will likely not be enough.
The only way you can come close to this kind of weight loss is to use some kind of diuretic. By flushing your body clean of fluids, undigested food, and mainly going on a very strict diet (which will likely be more like fasting), you can drop a lot of weight, for sure, but I highly doubt that you can lose as much as 18 pounds in 4 days. Also bear in mind that the majority of this weight loss will simply be water weight which will come back quickly.
The best I've heard that people lost with any purgative diet is 10 pounds in 3 days. Dropping 18 seems to be just too much. It may also be unhealthy to try to do this as it will shock the body completely to lose this much weight.
I recommend that you put aside your dreams of losing 18 pounds in 4 days. It sounds great, but I don't think it can be true. I recommend using a diet which provides continuous results and which is rooted in reality, not fantasy. Such a diet will help you to lose weight for real and to keep it off into the far future.
