Every pregnant woman that I know is looking forward to losing the weight that they have gained and get back to their normal size. The fact, however, is that most women find that losing weight after pregnancy can be really difficult, and a long drawn out process.
I am going to give you some things that you can do to get a jump on losing weight after pregnancy. There are things that you need to do during your entire pregnancy that will help you have a fast recovery after delivery, and get back to your normal weight faster than you think.
The first thing that I hear out of a lot of pregnant women's mouth is that they are aloud to get fat just because they are pregnant. Pregnancy is not an excuse to eat what you want, and to eat as much of it as you want.
While gaining weight is essential during pregnancy, there is a set range that you need to stay within. On average, you are looking at gaining anywhere from 25-35 pounds total. If you don't watch what you eat, and don't exercise, you can easily double that amount making everything so much harder on yourself.
As soon as you find out that you are pregnant, you need to start making changes. Start walking more, and start eating healthy. There are all kinds of great programs that will help you stay on track during all three of your trimesters. I am going to recommend the best that I have found at the end of this article.
If you truly want to get a jump on losing weight after pregnancy, like I said before, you need to stay in the ideal weight gain range. You should look at gaining around 5 pounds in your first trimester, and around 1 pound per week during the second and third trimester. It is okay to be under or a little over that from week to week, but your main goal should be around 25-35 pounds of total weight gain.
Exercising is a big part in fast post-delivery recovery. You will be able to have an easy labor and have a really fast recovery. And if you are in shape when you deliver, the faster your body will recover, meaning the faster you can start losing weight.
If you are overweight and out of shape, you can count on hours and hours of labor, a slow recovery, and you will have a really hard time getting the extra weight off. After you pass the recommended weight gain, you are gaining way too much fat tissue which is going to be really hard to burn off.
Also, if you are overweight and out of shape, your recovery time will be weeks instead of a couple of days. You will not be able to start dieting for a couple of months.
