Oily skin is a problem in that does make your skin look dull and too much oil on the face can lead to other problems such as a potential breakout of spots and acne, and that is something that should and needs to be avoided.
Now you have oily skin for a reason. It is not something that you have gone out of your way to obtain but there are certain factors that can contribute to a skin becoming very oily indeed. There are a number of factors that can contribute to a skin becoming oily and we will discuss some of them here in further detail.
One of the factors is that oily skin can be hereditary. So if you have a parent who has or is suffering from oily skin then there is a strong chance that you too will suffer from oily skin. Sadly there is not that much you can do in order to stop a hereditary skin condition. All that you can do is learn to treat and care for your skin as best as you can.
There is also the factor that your hormones are very active, and you may well notice that people who are in their teenage years and early twenties are quite likely to suffer from oily skin compared to a person who is in their thirties and upwards. Also women who are expecting to give birth, will be releasing a lot of hormones than normal, so a strike of oily skin is also possible here.
Thankfully there are a range of products that are available and that are specially formulated for treating and healing oily skin. It is important that you spend time to make sure that the products you do buy are for oily skin and not another skin type.
You should also try and spend just a little more money and invest in products that are organic based. This will give you the confidence that the products you are using are not full of man made ingredients and using non-organic based products could very well make matters simply worse.
One thing that you need to do is to keep you oily skin as clean as possible throughout the day. Do not think that by washing the face repeatedly will help. It will not and excess washing will simply cause the skin to produce more oil.
It is best to use a face wash that is soap free and you should only wash twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. You are best off washing your face with cold water, as what this does is to actually help tighten the skin and so reduce the size of your pores.
You need to be careful that when you are treating your acne you do not go to extreme lengths where the skin is becoming dry. Going from having excess oiliness to dry skin is very extreme and not good for the skin at all. You can keep a little spray that contains mineral water enhanced with some herbs and minerals that actually helps to keep the skin from producing too much oil but at the same time does not cause the skin to become overly dry.
If you are to use a moisturiser on your face then you must make sure that the product that you use is organic and it is water based. This will help the moisturiser to absorb much faster into the skin, as some moisturisers are very think and actually leave a residue on the surface of the skin and this is something that you do not want to happen.
You can also exfoliate your skin and this is actually a good idea, but do not exfoliate too often and over exfoliation can lead to the skin becoming very sensitive over time, because the action of the exfoliation itself is to remove skin cells. Exfoliation is ideal once every two weeks do give your skin a little lift.
Oily skin can and is a problem all year round especially during the summer months, but if you follow the steps detailed above then it will not be long before you are in control of your skin once and for all.
