Medicinal Herbs For Skin What You Must Know

Visitors: 167

There is a common misconception regarding skin care products that if something goes on your skin, it can't really harm you. That is very far from the truth.

Just like any other organ system in your body, the skin contains a network of blood vessels that will carry anything you place on your skin throughout your body. A lot of commercial skin products on the market contain things that you would never want circulating through your system. That said, medicinal herbs for skin can be very beneficial and safe if the correct ones are used.

Stick with all natural ingredients.

Many herbal skin care products will contain all natural ingredients. This is important because these work in synergy with your body, and will not produce potential allergic reactions that synthetic ingredients concocted in a laboratory can. Additives derived from plant products are particularly beneficial, as they are most similar to the proteins and oils in human skin and most easily utilized by your body.

There are many kinds of medicinal herbs for skin that are on the market today. One of the most popular is Jojoba oil. This oil is unique in that its makeup is very similar to that of the oils in our own skin. This allows your skin to use Jojoba oil very easily, and it can actually help balance your skin's oil production and help moisturize dry skin and reduce the greasiness of oily skin.

Manuka Honey is widely used in high quality skin care products that actually work. It is rich in antioxidants, which will help minimize and reverse the aging process. It also has an effect on your skin's immune system and will help keep harmful bacteria at bay. This product will moisturize your skin and help you maintain a younger look as an added benefit.

Babassu oil, derived from a plant native to the Amazon region of Brazil, has been used for centuries by the inhabitants of that region. Recently, scientists have isolated a form for inclusion in herbal skin care products. It helps to form a moisture barrier on your skin, keeping in the oils that you want, but also keeping dirt and bacteria out.

When many people think of medicinal herbs for skin, they think of products that are mysterious and rare. Not so, as more and more skin care products are including these ingredients because of their proven benefit and safety of use.

Another natural plant derivative is Maracuja. This is rich in linoleic acid, which is an essential fatty acid found in all of our cells. It is crucial in skin cells to maintain oil balance and regulate the amount of oil your skin produces. Herbal skin care products are using this ingredient because it is one of the most potent sources of linoleic acid available.

The take home message is that medical herbs for skin are very beneficial, and can be found in only the highest quality skin care products. It is important to remember that anything you put on your skin is completely absorbed into your bloodstream, just as if you ate or drank it. Doesn't it make sense then to only use natural ingredients in your skin care products?
