The South Beach Diet Phase 2

The longest and regularly considered to be the most important part of the South Beach Diet, is Phase 2. This is where you will see the weight coming off and you will continue to follow this part of the diet until you have reached your ideal weight goals.

Although Phase 1 is very informative about what is good for you and what is not, you will soon become aware that Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet is where you get to put what you have learned into practice. Good eating habits are easy to form when you are using the many choices of food available to you during Phase 2.

The allowance of grains reappears in your diet at this stage, but make sure you are not so busy celebrating this fact that you forget to take these in moderation. Think about what your body really and truly wants before reaching for that portion of grains at meal times. The chemical craving for grains will be a thing of the past, so seriously consider the portion size you actually want as opposed to the size you would normally have eaten simply because you were in the habit of doing so.

You will also have noticed that you are now allowed to eat fruits one more. However, as mentioned with the grains above, moderation is the key. Do not eat any more fruit than you need in order to be satisfied.

Fruit provides you with energy during the day but during Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet you need to familiarize yourself with what is a full serving and what is a half serving.

This is quite significant when reintroducing fruit to your daily intake of food. If you can eat your fruit later on in the day it will help to stop your cravings during the evening.

To ensure that you do not fall by the wayside and slip back into old habits, try putting carbohydrates and fruits back into your daily diet slowly at first. One new serving each week should suffice. The plan is to find that place where you are eating comfortably, enjoying what you eat, yet losing weight.

Your body is yours and yours alone. Only you can choose what is best for it, so take things a day at a time whilst on Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet and gradually find out what works for you and is your key to successful and healthy weight loss.
