Pros and Cons of Fad Diets - Are Crash and Fad Diets Making You Fat?

Visitors: 219

Losing weight is kind of unpleasant to think about. Most people enjoy dreaming about the outcome - a slim, healthier body, but hate thinking about what they have to do to get the body they desire. This is why it's tempting to try one of the many fad diets that always seem to be circulating around offices and among friends.

Maybe you're thinking of trying one of these fad diets right now:

Apple Cider Vinegar Diet
Cabbage Soup Diet
Chicken Soup Diet
Chocolate Diet
Eat Subway and Lose Weight Diet
Grapefruit Diet
Ice Cream Diet
Lemonade Diet
Miracle Diet
Pasta Diet
Popcorn Diet
Potato Chip Diet
Soup Diet
Tuna Fish Diet

There are many more, but these are some of the current popular ones making the rounds. While some of these diets do have some nutritional value and help you lose weight, many are unhelthty fad diets that cause your metabolism to slow down, or worse, go into starvation mode.

Crash and fad diets always promise that you'll lose lots of weight very quickly, usually within 7 to 10 days. That's very tempting to someone who feels they need to lose weight fast to fit into a dress, suit, or look good for a specific function. However, there's proof that these kinds of diet plans can actually make you fat.

That's not the results you're looking for at all.

You see, when you go on one of these severe, calorie restricted diets, you may lose a bunch of water weight (very common), which makes you initially happy that you're losing any kind of weight, but what you really need to do is burn fat. In order to burn fat, your body needs a certain amount of calories maintain weight - from 1500 - 2500 every day.

Many of these bare bones fad diets keep you from eating a well-balanced nutritional meal, which you need to eat at least three to six times a day. Instead, you'll be starving your body of much needed carbohydrates, protein, and yes, even fat.

When your body goes into starvation mode, instead of losing weight, what happens is that your metabolism shuts down and so does fat loss. Your body will hold onto every single calorie it can in order to stay alive. This is why many people who start fad diets, hit a wall and get discouraged very quickly.

When they see they aren't losing any more weight, they start going back to their old eating habits and gain back any weight they've lost - and often add on more pounds. This is why your best bet is to stick with a diet that offers daily meal plans that include all the nutrition your body needs in order to give you energy, while also burning real fat.

Finally, you can melt away the fat and have the body you've always wanted.

Unlock the secret to losing weight fast and permanently. Smash through those hidden habits that cause you to fail. Conquer yo-yo dieting for good and rediscover your health. Now is the time for a fabulous new you!
