How many of us have suffered from a toothache before? The answer is “many of us. " An ache of the tooth is one of the most unwelcome pains. It can affect your sleep, your mood, and your appetite. But when going to the dentist is not an option on the weekend, what can we do to relive some of the pressure and the pain?
One way to temporarily alleviate the pain is with ice. You can apply a cold ice pack to your face in order to numb the area and prevent the gums from swelling. You can also place an ice cube directly on the sore tooth for faster relief. However, this is just a temporary solution to the problem. Clove oil is yet another relief strategy. This particular remedy is one of the most popular aids. Since many of us don't have clove oil just lying around the house, it is possible to create our own. All you need is some whole cloves, olive oil and a blender. Simply blend some whole cloves and mix them with olive oil until you reach a paste like consistency. This way you have your very own, fresh clove oil.
Several other people believe that chewing a clove of garlic in the morning is very helpful in reliving tooth pain. However, this remedy might be too strong for some individuals. It may be easier for some people to turn the clove of garlic into a paste and place it on a sandwich. The garlic will still provide the same effects but with less intensity. And an interesting natural toothache preventative comes in the form of an onion. What may surprise many people is that chewing on an onion for three minutes can kill the germs that cause cavities in the first place. That's an interesting observation! So the next time you have a toothache and you can't make it to the dentist, try one of these at home remedies.
