Acai Berry Versus Goji Berry

Acai Berries and Goji berries are the two biggest superfoods on the market today. Acai Berry is found in the Amazon Rain Forest in Brazil. The berry is a small grape size and has a sour taste. The Goji berry is found primarily in the Himalayan Mountains of China. This is a bigger green berry that is also sometimes called the “wolf berry".

At one time or another over the last few years both of these amazing superfruits have been called the most nutrient rich food in the world, the highest antioxidant food in the world, used as a medicinal plant, huge interest in other countries, and exotic! When we broke down these two berries content, they really were very similar. They both had good fat loss properties, tons of phytochemicals, and were very high in micro and macronutrients. The biggest difference we found was in the antioxidant content of the two berries.

In order to measure the antioxidant content, you use a scale called ORAC. This stands for oxygen radial absorbance capacity. This is the best scale we have, but it definitely has it's flaws. It does not take into account variations in species or changes in the environment year to year. When compared, acai berry actually more than doubles goji berry in the amount of antioxidants it contains. Antioxidants are needed to rid the body of toxins that can make you sick and actually aid in weight gain. Therefore, acai berry is actually better as a wellness and weight loss supplement as well.
