It seems that with every passing month, different manufacturers are coming up with new advances in digital cameras to entice potential clients. It's just not working for us as consumers! Finding digital cameras on sale will require some research.

After spending a sizeable amount of time at the mall figuring out which is the best digital camera for us, we finally have decided on one. We have enough money to buy that eye popping, 12 mega pixel, 10x digital zoom, potable, candy colored camera. It has the capability to expand to 16GB's of super high speed memory, with an SD memory card. We march to the mall armed with our hard earned savings and with lots of pride in ourselves. And all of a sudden, our decision is thrown for a loop. This is due to a new model of camera on display. This new one boasts 15.1 megapixels, capability for up to 32GB's of expandable memory, with a built it microphone and stereo surround, video playback capability, and 22 scenic modes. We sigh in dejection, as the producer of this amazing gadget claims that this is their best digital camera out in the market. As we always want to have the best, armed with our savings (and a few credit cards, ) we buy the “best digital cameras on sale. "

But then again, that label of being the best camera doesn't last too long. In another two months or so, there's a new “best digital camera. " All of this is confusing for the average consumer. What makes a digital camera “the top digital cameras"?

Well, there are certain factors to consider when looking for the “best digital cameras on sale" for us.

MEGAPIXELS. One of the most important features of the best digital camera is it's megapixel property. The higher number of megapixels the camera has, the better the actual photograph will come out. A megapixel is equivalent to one million pixels. The resolution of your image depends upon the megapixel property of your camera. This means as you enlarge the picture, you would get more detail and less blurry colors. The newest cameras can reach 15.1 megapixels.

LCD SIZE. The best digital camera will always have a large LCD to help you frame your subject, without having to squint to see the viewfinder. This is also helpful when reviewing your images, as some cameras enable touch up and editing features on the LCD. A 2 inch display is average, and a 2.5 inch LCD display is good.

However, the ideal LCD size would be around 3 inches in size.

ZOOM. Most digital cameras have both digital and optical zoom. A higher optical zoom is always better than a higher digital zoom. Digital cameras usually come with optical of between 3x to 10x. The better the optical zoom, the higher it climbs up to the best digital camera category.

MEMORY CARD. Always make sure your memory card is the proper type for your digital camera. There are multiple different types of memory card, such as the Memory Stick Pro Duo, SD, MicroSD, and Flash cards. Each of these types of memory cards will work with different cameras. As a general rule of thumb, memory storage is also important in choosing the best digital cameras. Choose the size of memory you need, along with the proper type of memory for your camera. If you're a photo junkie, you might need more than 1GB. Memory cards can go up to 32GB's.

The key point to find the best digital camera is to find one that best fits you and your lifestyle. Don't just buy the latest, or the one that claims they are the best digital cameras out in the market. You wouldn't want to buy a heavy DSLR type camera, and be forced to lug it around for all of your family outings, would you?

Conversely, you don't want to buy the latest point and shoot camera when you're serious about being a professional photographer. Of course, you can use a point and shoot camera as a starter camera. Nevertheless, if you're not a novice photographer anymore, you wouldn't want to get this kind of camera.

Actually, the best digital camera is the one that you will enjoy and use. Not the type you'll just leave rotting in its box or after a few weeks of usage, only to end up storing it in the attic.
