There are numerous methods of controlling premature ejaculation available and being widely used today. For some men medications are sought while others are able to learn to gain more control in this area with simple exercises. With all medications and other medical procedures come risks so starting off with some less invasive procedures is always best.
What is PE?
Premature ejaculation (PE) can be defined differently by different people. For some men PE is a very serious issue that keeps them from having sexual intercourse with their partner by ejaculating prior to penetration. For other men PE means not lasting much longer than penetration which is also very frustrating for both partners involved. Some men merely wish to be able to prolong intercourse longer and are unable to go longer than 3-5 minutes. Since the average male ejaculates within 5 minutes of penetration this is not necessarily a medical condition but more of a preference. All three types can be treated successfully although the more severe cases may need to seek medical assistance. Prior to seeking medical treatment there are a few methods of controlling premature ejaculation that you should attempt.
Self Control Techniques
While some men are able to start and stop during intercourse this is not the method others prefer. It is possible to get close to the point of no return and then stop and wait a few moments before starting again. For some keeping your mind on other things while having intercourse can also slow ejaculation enough that your partner can catch up. It is possible to make things worse if your partner doesn't understand why you appear distant or if you happen to mutter the wrong name so you need to be careful when using these techniques. If you do choose to stop intercourse and then start back up when you feel more in control your partner may get frustrated. You can use this time to keep your partner aroused with foreplay rather than taking out the cat or doing something that is a complete mood killer so you don't cause hurt feelings and frustration.
Kegel or PC exercises
Gaining control and muscle tone through kegel exercises (also known as PC exercises) to strengthen the pubbocoxygennus (PC) muscle can help to control premature ejaculation. The PC muscle controls ejaculation and is also the muscle used to stop urine flow once you start to urinate. Squeezing the pc muscle to restrict urine flow once you have started to urinate you can locate and learn to control the PC muscle. Practicing the tightening and releasing of this muscle for up to 5 minutes 3 times a day can help you to gain control over this muscle and help you to learn how to better control ejaculation. This can give you stronger erections and more control over ejaculation.
Dulling the Sensation
Using a condom can reduce the sensation enough to slow ejaculation. This method comes with an added bonus as it also helps to protect against unwanted pregnancy and STDs. There is no reason to believe that wearing more than one condom will be helpful. Using creams to anesthetize the penis can also cause loss of sensation in your partner and may cause irritation of the skin it comes in contact with which isn't something you or your partner will appreciate.
Release the Pressure
If you are tense you are going to have more of a problem with PE. Instead of worrying about it you can take care of yourself prior to intercourse, by an hour or two and not by minutes, so that it will be a little more difficult for you to reach climax and you will be able to last longer. Although masturbation can relieve the immediate pressure you are in you should still work on other methods so you don't have to use this method every time you have intercourse. This is more of a method used to help you have confidence the first few times with your partner, after that you should have had time to work on gaining some control with exercises.
With all of the methods of controlling premature ejaculation available there is something you can use to help you to gain more control and confidence in this area. Starting with natural methods and learning to gain control of your body can help you to overcome PE. For those men who are unable to gain control there are drugs available that can assist with this condition. Talk to your doctor for more information.
