For thousands of years, across many cultures, healers have used essential oils to heal the body, mind and spirit. D. Gary Young ND has combined his knowledge of the healing power of essential oils with knowledge he learned from Lakota elders to create a healing technique he calls Raindrop Technique®. As he tells the story, sitting around a campfire one evening in the 1980's, the elders shared with him a story of their people. For generations, the Lakota Indians migrated across the Canadian border into the northern regions of Saskatchewan and Manitoba to see the northern lights or the aurora borealis. They would hold up their hands towards the lights and inhale deeply. They believed the air was charged with healing energy from the lights. As they inhaled this energy, they would mentally pass it through their spine and direct it to any afflicted areas of their bodies through neurological pathways. Many believed that this brought incredible healing.
When the Canadian borders were closed, they could no longer migrate to these regions so they tried to re-create the same sensations through effleurage which is a kind of gentle feathering strokes up the spine. As they did this for one another, they would breathe healing energy deeply into their bodies, directing it to any place that was out of balance.
As Gary Young reflected on this healing tradition, he wondered if using a feathering stroke up the spine with essential oils would create a greater healing effect. As many healers do, he practiced and refined his healing technique until it is in the form we know today. He called it “Raindrop Technique" because the oils are dropped through the energy field from a distance of six inches. The field is observed by many as multi-colored like the colors of the rainbow. It is said to possess electromagnetic properties and the oils dropped through the many layers of the field is thought to have a beneficial effect.
Now this story may sound strange to you, but having practiced this technique for many years with clients, I can attest to its ability to help people feel better. I have seen spines straighten, chronic illnesses be alleviated within weeks or months, and I have heard many positive comments such as “I feel so much better, " “the oils are calming and soothing, " “my cold was alleviated, " and “my back no longer hurts. "
Overwhelming Positive Effects
Since 1989, thousands upon thousands of Raindrop Techniques have been performed with overwhelming positive effects both for recipient and practitioner. There has been an enormous amount of praise from users around the world for its ability to facilitate tissue cleansing and overall health. Raindrop Technique (RT) has proven to be a successful non-traditional means of addressing current medical concerns. It is a powerful non-invasive tool for assisting the body's natural healing processes.
