Blending two or more essential oils in a recipe can be very helpful in bringing emotional balance into your life or that of another. Regardless of the purpose of your blend, you will be affecting body, mind and spirit with your recipe. Emotions are quite varied from joy and elation to sadness and depression. Can essential oils help alleviate troublesome emotions and restore positive emotions? Many have found this to be true.
Some essential oils are natural antidepressants or have sedative or tranquilizing characteristics. They can trigger the release of neurochemicals like endorphins and enkaphalins, analgesics and tranquilizers. These neurochemicals travel through the blood stream and affect the entire system physically and psychologically.
How Can Creating an Essential Oil Blend Be Helpful Emotionally?
Psychological and spiritual blending calls for a degree of “intuition" or an ability to “sense" the condition of the spirit of the client. This calls for tuning into spiritual guidance, truly listening to how Spirit leads you in creating blends that will help another. Here are three ways your recipe can help bring emotional balance:
1. Through diffusion and inhalation. Emotional issues are best treated with diffusion or inhalation but application to particular areas of the body may also be necessary. Teach the person to place one or two drops of the blend in their palms and then inhale during their day. If they have a diffuser, make sure they know how to use it and then diffuse the blend 5 to 15 minutes several times a day.
2. The blend needs to be pleasant. You are creating a personal blend that will fit this individual therefore it needs to be pleasant enough for them to want to use it.
3. Encourage the client to journal and record their thoughts and feelings through the day. Teach them to look for the various nuances of changes in their own emotions.
Creating an emotional blend can be a wonderfully creative and enjoyable experience. The act of blending is in itself-a spiritual ceremony. There are some basic rules but you will be relying upon intuition and spiritual guidance. Blending is an aesthetic alchemical process which will evolve as you are in tune with the “spirit" of the oils.
