Many diets began as detoxification diets. Recipes for a detox diet include one type of food or food combination and nothing else during the flush out period. The grape diet was originally a meant as a system cleanse and considered crazy by many. Recent studies at Ohio State University found that grapes, like all deep red, blue or purple fruits or vegetables contain a substance known as Anthocyanins that actually fight or slow the growth of cancer cells. This study verifies the grape diet as a powerful detoxification diet.

A detox diet flushes waste and bad residue from the system. It cleanses the body and gives the organs a rest for a few days. Scientific tests prove that fasting increases the life span of mice and this type of dieting is a form of fasting. The practice of fasting dates back hundreds of years and started as a religious belief. Today many fast strictly for health benefits.

The recipe for the detox diet, the grape diet, is quite simple. You eat grapes and nothing but grapes. You can combine grapes with water and put it in a blender, eat the grapes whole, or juice them. The grape diet is a short-term diet to cleanse the system. If you are in good health, limit the use to a few days. Please consult your physician or health care practitioner before embarking on any diet.

Another cleansing diet that found great popularity is the lemonade diet. This diet contains a concoction that substitutes for normal daily food. This diet also cleanses the system and only used for short-term periods.

The recipe for the detox diet, the lemonade diet, requires more than the grape diet. The mixture contains 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemons or limes, 2 tablespoons of organic maple syrup that's B grade, 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and a cup of purified water. Make certain that the water contains no fluoride.

Take a minimum of ten servings each day. In addition to the detoxification drink, flush your system with a salt-water flush each morning. Drink the flush, made with 2 level teaspoons of sea salt and added to a quart of warm water, immediately when you rise. The last drink of the day is a laxative herbal tea. Most groceries or health food shops carry some form of laxative herbal tea. A few days on the lemonade fast cleans the entire system of waste.
