Prague Stag Do City Guide

Fail to prepare and prepare to fail – so goes the old mantra. This is the attitude one should apply to organising your Prague stag do. In this case, failure is turning up in a strange city and paying top dollar for food, drinks and lodgings all because you failed to do your research prior to the weekend. The organisation shouldn’t be at its conclusion once you’ve got something booked, it really pays to research the city you’re visiting before you depart or else face giving your groom-to-be a damp squib of a send-off. Get it right and you’ll be the toast of the weekend, so the stakes could not be any higher.

Prague is famous as the city of spires, thanks to its wonderfully unique architecture that harks back to the medieval times. It’s also seen as somewhat of a Mecca for stag weekends, thanks to its reputation for low-priced drinks and top nightlife. As with most European cities, this nightlife can be missed if you don’t venture from the tried path of the city squares which are largely tourist traps – venture out into the great unknown (or at least onto the roads that fork off from the main city square) and the rewards are huge.

Apparently the Czechs have the highest consumption of beer per citizen internationally and it’s little wonder when you factor in the amount of top ales that are produced in the country. There are more than 800 pubs to wet one’s whistle in and almost as many cocktail bars and restaurants to really fill in the blanks on your Prague stag do. Competition is fierce on the beer-front with Budvar and Staropramen the two big-name brands that are famous the world over.

Unless you want your Prague stag do to end in a pool of vomit, take it easy on the absinthe. Prague is well-endowed when it comes to nightclubs, especially Old Town which is awash with top spots to drink and dance ‘til the sun rises over this beautiful city. Lavka Bar, Duplex and Karlovny Lazen are three such spots which are among the coolest hang-outs in the city.

So there you have it, your essential introduction to the Prague stag weekend, don't leave home without it!
