When you have finished reading this article, you will know how to stop anxiety attack. To learn this important information about how to stop anxiety attack, be sure to read this article from this point to the end.

what to do first

First, let me be clear. If you are suffering from frequent and severe anxiety attacks, the first thing you should do is see your healthcare professional. The reason for this is because you most likely will need a prescription drug to help control your attacks and possibly a combination of drugs and therapy.

How to stop anxiety attacks

If you wait for an anxiety attack to start before doing anything, there is very little you can do to stop anxiety attack. This is why most experts on anxiety disorder will tell you the best thing you can do is try to eliminate or at least lessen these attacks.

However, once an anxiety attack begins, you can do what is called thought stoppage. You must say to yourself “STOP! These thoughts are not good for me. They are not hopeful or healthy and I have decided to go in a better direction and learn to think differently. "

The reason that thought stoppage can help is because every time you make this rational statement, you are reinforcing and reminding your brain as to what is healthy and what is not.

Next, try to accept your anxiety. Take a deep breath and accept your feelings for what they are. Tell yourself that you are experiencing anxiety or fear and let it run its course.

Coping statements

Next, choose two or three statements from the list below that seem to help you. Repeat these statements out loud every day. You most likely will not believe them at first, but eventurally you will.

- “No one has ever died from an anxiety attack. "

- “I will let my body do its thing. This will pass. "

- “I can be anxious and still deal with this situation. "

"This does not feel great, but I can deal with it. "

Coping with anxiety

There are several new treatments for anxiety disorder that have proven to work in conjunction with therapy and medication. One of these is biofeedback. In biofeedback, sensors are used to measure specific physiological functions - such as breathing, muscle tension and heart rate - so you can learn to recognize your body's anxiety response and how to control them using relaxation techniques.

Second, is exercise. Exercise is a natural stress buster and anxiety reliever. In fact, there is research showing that as few as 30 minutes of exercise three to four times a week can provide significant anxiety relief.

Other ways to treat anxiety attacks
