Allergies are a fairly well known condition, but many people don't realize how irritating or dangerous they can be for some people. Ranging from constant sneezing and runny nose to potentially choking from a swollen throat, allergies can be annoying or scary. Read this article for tips on effectively dealing with your symptoms.

Get tested by a doctor to find out what exactly you are allergic to. You can try to find out on your own, but seeing a doctor and having the appropriate blood tests are the only ways to know for sure. Once you have pinpointed the cause of your allergies, you can better treat them.

Take Vitamin supplements. A Vitamin C supplement with bioflavonoids is a natural antihistamine that helps to boost the body's immune system. If you are suffering from a cough or runny nose, you can reduce the inflammation by taking a Vitamin A supplement. Vitamin E is an important source of antioxidants, neutralizing the free radicals that can increase allergy symptoms.

If your child frequently complains of symptoms like a stuffy nose, or frequent sneezing, allergies may be to blame. Over time, these problems can make it difficult for your child to perform well in class, or reach their full potential. In these cases, allergy therapy may produce a marked difference in the way your child feels, and behaves.

Check that the paper tissues you are using are unscented. Many paper tissue manufacturers are now scenting their products with strong chemicals. These chemicals can be very irritating. Many allergy sufferers are constantly using paper tissues to wipe their runny noses. However, these sufferers are unaware of the fact that if they are using scented paper tissues, they could be aggravating their nose further.

You can reduce your exposure to allergens by, being paying close attention to the weather. You can do your outside chores, and activities on days that have lower pollen counts such as overcast, rainy or humid days. Pollen is released by plants at dawn, and the count is higher on dry, warm mornings. The count can peak at midday, and stay high on a warm, and breezy day well into the evening.

If you are extremely sensitive to weed pollens, there is a good chance that you may also be sensitive to certain foods. Consuming melons, bananas and chamomile may cross-react with weed pollens, resulting in a tingling, burning or scratchy feeling in the mouth and throat. Eat these foods with caution.

Shower before bed, taking special care to wash your hair thoroughly. Pollen, dust, and other allergens can get trapped on your skin and in your hair as you go through your day. If you normally shower in the morning, consider switching to an evening schedule. This will give you the chance to remove these irritants before bed, allowing you to have a restful night's sleep.

Each year, more and more people are coming down with allergies from a number of different sources. Whatever your case may be, hopefully, you have found solutions in this article that will help you take control over your symptoms and get back to work, life or play.
