Visitors: 239

Acne (Acne vulgaris) is a skin disease that is caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units which are skin structures that consist of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland. Acne lesions are also referred to as pimples or zits. Though it is common among adolescents and can continue into adulthood. Acne can manifest in non-inflammatory and inflammatory forms.

Most masks available today are made of ingredients that help reduce oil production, control shine, cleanse acne prone skin, tighten and unclog pores. They are usually made up of clays which include Fresh green clay, Kaolin clay. These clays absorb excess oil, tighten pores and revitalize the complexion. Thereby helping you achieve the blemish free skin you deserve.

Some masks may contain sulfur which is effective against acne, eczema and psoriasis. Sulfur reduces the severity of acne and encourages the skin to clear. There are masks available that contain natural extracts such as Aloe vera, Licorice extract, which helps with the healing process of the skin. Vitamin B5 which helps control skin oil production and assists in soothing and purifying the skin may be found in some masks.

Masks are usually applied to the problem areas on your skin. The skin should be cleansed and moist before an even layer of the mask is applied. The mask should be left to dry for about 5-10 minutes (not more) then rinsed thoroughly with warm water and patted dry. When applying the mask take care to avoid the eye area. It can be used once or twice a week as a facial treatment.

As with every product you buy try to read the label and instructions carefully so as to obtain the best results and determine if you are allergic to any of the ingredients present in the product.

Side effects commonly experienced with most masks include redness, slight/heavy irritation. That is why it is important that you apply a thin layer of the mask and don't allow it to stay for more than 10 minutes (Note: the amount of time the mask can be allowed to dry on your skin depends on the product you are using).

The fact that using a mask thoroughly cleanses and soothes your skin helps in keeping acne away allowing you to have clear skin. Therefore I recommend you try one today, after all you have nothing to lose but your acne. Take that bold step.
