However this does not hold true for two different groups. For example, if you are allergic to shellfish it does not mean that you will have an allergic reaction to gastropods.
So what are the symptoms of seafood allergies, these include breathing difficulties, ringing in ears, dizziness, head ache, light headedness, a rise or fall in blood pressure and nausea amongst other symptoms.
Whenever something in a new group is tried for the first time you should only eat a small amount and then see if any of the symptoms occur within several hours. Symptom include hives or rash, difficulties in breathing, headache, dizziness, ringing in the ears and an increase or decrease in blood pressure.
If you suffer from seafood allergies, the best form of treatment is usually to avoid seafood full stop. That way there is no chance of you getting an allergic reaction.
If you suspect that you may be allergic to a specific type of seafood and you are trying it for the first time, it is a very good idea to test it. You can do this by eating a small sample of the seafood and waiting for several hours to see if an allergic reaction occurs. If one doesn't occur than you are probably not allergic to it, however if one does occur it means you are allergic to this seafood and you should avoid it.
