3 Tips to Quit Smoking

I can remember the day that I quit smoking like it was yesterday, even though it has been more than 10 years ago. It took me almost 6 months before I finally could say that I was officially over it, even though it was many more years before the cravings stopped all together. Perhaps you are like me in that you have tried many times to quit but have been unsuccessful in your attempts to kick the habit. If you are struggling to give up cigarettes then try these 3 tips to quit smoking.

1. Make Your Mind Over - Don't go into quitting smoking thinking that you might fail. Make sure that you make your mind over to the fact that you have smoked your last cigarette and you will never go back. Don't expect that this will happen on the spur of the moment, you need to mentally prepare your mind to quit for a long time in advance. When you are ready to quit you will know it.

2. Remove Those Triggers - You know what I'm talking about, there are certain things that just flip the switch and make you want to smoke. It could be that first cup of coffee in the morning or even a nice meal, but you need to start now to identify what it is that makes you want a smoke, and prepare yourself to avoid them as much as possible.

3. Avoid Stumbles - There are people and things that will make you want to go back to smoking, perhaps they are friends that smoke. Try your best to avoid these stumbling blocks, at least for the first month so you don't give in to a relapse.
