The supplement Omega 3 is most commonly found in fish oils. These oils are extracted from the body tissues of fatty fish. Oils that come from the livers of most fish are not as good for you because they have lower levels of Omega 3’s and the risk of being contaminated. Wild Salmon, Rainbow Trout, and Tuna (canned/frozen) are also sources of Omega 3’s. Other fish sources are Anchovies, Sardines, Oysters, Shrimp and Scallops. Whiting, King Crab are also good fish sources of Omega 3 fatty acids.
Fish high in Omega 3 have been effective in supporting eye health and brain functioning. They help with memory, learning, and may relieve some of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s. Old sayings die hard and fish has long since been touted as “brain food. ” Cod live oil was used to treat whatever was ailing you whether it be a cold, the flu, or stomach problems.
