Every person has a set amount of calories that they must eat to maintain their weight, lose weight, or gain weight. This is the secret behind weight loss and gain. Sadly, the majority of people seeking to reach their fitness and health goals don’t realize this fact. They merely believe that “less is more” so the less you eat, the healthier you are - which is very much untrue.
The body is made up of living tissue. These living tissues take nutrients, vitamins, calories, and proteins to operate. These are the basic 5 things that your body NEEDS to have in it’s intact of nutrients. If it doesn’t get one of these things, it will die, or begin to eat itself.
If your body does not get enough protein, it will begin devouring it’s muscle - the storehouse of your body’s proteins. If your body does not have fat, your hormones will begin going crazy. Stress hormones will rise, and your bones can become frail. Bones are actually one of the largest fat stores in the body.
If you do not eat fiber, your GI tract could become devastatingly clogged, causing colon cancer, and various problems in digestion. If you do not have water - you will die of thirst. Plain and simple. And if you do not have carbohydrates, your body will revert to other forms of energy: fat and protein, in which case you will begin eating yourself alive.
So you need to make sure you’re planning your diet around your body, not your body around your diet. Make sure you know what it is your body needs before you deplete your body’s needs, and ultimately become unhealthy in search for the greater physique.
