Ladies, this one is literally hot off the press. As I turned on my television set this morning, the first headline to greet me was ‘HRT linked to Ovarian Cancer Risk’. By the time you finish reading this article you will learn about an inexpensive and effective option that just might work for you.

As you are already aware, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is prescribed to women who are going through the menopause. The main benefits that women have experienced to date from taking HRT have been protection against Osteoporosis in later life as well as a significant reduction in the intensity of the symptoms associated with the Menopause such as hot flashes, mood swings etc.

There have various health scares about HRT being linked to Breast Cancer, Strokes and Heart Disease in recent years. However, findings from the most recent UK study (funded by Cancer Research) are based on the Million Women Study; which looks at health of women aged 50 and over, indicates two major health issues for women currently taking HRT:

- A 20% increased risk of contracting Ovarian Cancer

- An increased risk of dying from Ovarian Cancer.

Over the last 15 years approximately 1000 women taking HRT have died from Ovarian Cancer. Needless to say, this sort headline will invoke widespread panic among women who are not only taking the drug but also have a history of having Cancer in the family.

Now, whilst some women will be willing to ‘take their chances’ others like you will be busy seeking alternatives.

So on that basis, I would like to share some information about an alternative which may not seem to be an obvious choice, but definitely one to consider. I’m talking about Magnet Therapy.

Magnet Therapy in short, is a non-invasive method of applying magnets to body to improve circulation, relieve pain and inflammation.

You will be interested to know that a recent UK clinical trial conducted by a Nijon Eccles, a Harley Street physician revealed that a tiny magnet the size of a 50p was given to a group of 508 women who were going through the menopause. They wore the magnet on their underwear for 3 months.

The study revealed that all of the woman experienced some benefit,

'With symptoms such as anxiety, mood swings, fatigue, sleeping problems, incontinence and breast tenderness being reduced by up to 70 %. Hot flushes, night sweats and irritability improved by a third, as did loss of libido and lapses in concentration. In addition, one in five of the women lost weight. '

As I bring this article to a close I would like to say that if you do decide to stick with HRT the current medical advice is to only use it to get over the worst of your symptoms and then stop, whatever you do, don’t panic, educate yourself about the alternatives and then take informed action.
