Part II - Stomach Stapling Surgery

As stated in Part I of this five-part series, Stomach Stapling Surgery is a very major and serious procedure. This procedure should only be performed on severely obese people who have tried and failed at all other attempts of weight loss and if it is a medical emergency. Only your physician can determine if it is a medical emergency. To be categorized as a medical emergency, you would have to have other underlying medical conditions that are detrimental to your health and the procedure is the only method of treatment for your condition.

Stomach Stapling Surgery has been labeled as “restrictive surgery" merely because the procedure alters the dietary guidelines. Going through this type of surgery requires a long-term commitment for weight loss success.

This procedure requires less food intake at each sitting. If you have difficulties with changing your eating habits, you will fail again at your weight loss goal because if you are determined to consume the same amount of food you run the risk of stretching the pouch. Stretching the pouch will only lead to unsuccessful occurrences.

Stomach Stapling Surgery is not 100% fail-safe and fool proof. Research has not shown any indicative success rates for this procedure. There are too many “ifs, " “buts, " and “maybes" with this procedure to pursue without consistent, verifiable and extensive research. If you are unable to find information in your usual places of research, then by all means, grill your physician. Don’t just go into this procedure without proper combat gear – knowledge.

Although Stomach Stapling Surgery is the most common restrictive surgery, it is not common enough to warrant no research on your part if you are contemplating this for your weight loss. Never undertake any weight loss procedure, whether it is surgery, diet pills or fasting, without exhausting your resources for adequate research.

In essence, before putting complete focus on Stomach Stapling Surgery, be sure you are in the category to have the procedure done. The next thing to do is gather all the information you can in regard to the procedure itself and what you should expect upon completing the surgery procedure. Above all, put some thought into whether you can reach your weight loss goals by undertaking Stomach Stapling Surgery.
