In the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, one of the most feared and destructive creatures of Azeroth will make an appearance, and you'd better get out of the way if you want to live. It is a creature so powerful that it would take armies to bring them down. It can sack whole cities with ease, alone. I'm talking about a magnataur, a ferocious beast that is half giant, half mammoth. If you are alone and you see one rushing towards you, don't be a fool and try to bring it down. Instead, run as fast to the opposite direction. There is no stopping the force of this creature when it is hell bent on destruction. Read some interesting details about the creature below.
A Mysterious Past
Little is known of how these hybrid creatures came to be. There are rumors that they are related to the centaurs and that they are also Guardians of the Grove. Some say that they are related somewhat to the Old Gods. None of these theories have been proven. One theory, though, is universally accepted and supported by evidence. It would seem that the magnataur race was the most dominant race for a time in Azeroth. But now, their numbers have dwindled.
A Rampaging Force
Magnataurs are humungous. They can grow up to 30 feet and weight up to 20 tons. Their upper body is that of a giant, while their lower body is that of a mammoth. Their weapons are usually clubs, but they are also known to carry enormous battle-axes. They also wear armor.
Definitely Evil, but Possibly Good
The common magnataur is definitely a malicious and evil-minded creature. Their only thought is destruction and violence. They have no thought for the welfare of other creatures, as long as they are able to sate their appetites and their rage. They fight constantly, even with each other, thus you rarely see a group of them together. The only creatures they stay away from are those that are stronger than them, such as dragons. Anything else is pure game. However, it has been revealed that some of these creatures can be made to join the side of good. Some magnataurs have even considered joining the Horde or the Alliance against the Lich King because they know they couldn't handle him and his Scourge alone. However, this is only the minority. Most magnataurs are still convinced of their dominion over others and continue their rampage of destruction.
Where to Find Them
If you have a death wish (kidding!) or you just want to see a magnataur first hand, all you need to do is head to the Storm Peaks where a large concentration of the creatures can still be found. Some roam all over Northrend so you might just meet one in a chance encounter. Just be wise about it and don't risk fighting them alone!
