World of Warcraft:
Wrath of the Lich King introduces the continent of Northrend where the battle between good and evil will once again ensue, where Horde and Alliance would try to defeat the Lich King, and where gamers all around the world will once again spend countless hours playing the game. Although much of Northrend will be turned into a battleground or questing ground in the expansion, there are areas that will be untouched by destruction. An example is the neutral city of Dalaran. The Wrath of the Lich King Dalaran zone will be one of the few places in Northrend that will have some semblance of peace once the wars begin.
Below are some things that you might not know about Dalaran yet. They are the following:
The city, for the longest time, has been a center of magic.
The Kirin Tor, a council of powerful mages or wizards of different races rules the city.
Dalaran was brought to ruins during the Third War. Prince Arthas, together with the Lich Lord Kel'Thuzad laid siege on the land. The city's thousands of citizens were annihilated. The purpose of the attack was so that Archimonde could be summoned, using the city's magic. After the siege, what is now the Wrath of the Lich King Dalaran neutral city was a pile of ruins.
Everyone thought that the city would be lost forever until a group of wizards who survived Arthas’ attack came back to Dalaran and restored it to its former glory.
Dalaran in the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion:
In the expansion, Dalaran will be a neutral city. When Malygos decided to annihilate all mortal users of magic, the wizards of Dalaran decided to protect the city by levitating it. To reach Dalaran, one can still travel by foot to use a teleport crystal, or one can use a flying creature or ship. There will be specific areas in the city that can only be accessed by either Horde or Alliance players. For example, Alliance players are not allowed into the Horde's Sunreaver's Sanctuary, while Horde players cannot enter the Alliance's Silver Enclave. There will be a lot of things to do and see in the Wrath of the Lich King Dalaran zone, such as instances, portals to other cities, and trainers and battlemasters for those who wish to be trained while there. The key is to explore as much of Dalaran as possible and make use of the relative peace that you will experience there. It will be a good respite from all the wars occurring in Northrend. There, you can gather your wits, stock your supplies, or have your armor repaired before joining the war again.
