World of Warcraft economy is a lot like the real thing. You have products, a place to sell them, and buyers. You can also just take your items to a vendor and he'll give you next to nothing for your hard work and send you on your way. You can even buy your items back from those vendors. That's why I think of them as a World of Warcraft Pawn Shop! They give you next to nothing, and if you come back before you log off, you can get it back.
Those vendors are such rip-offs! Never waste your hard earned time selling to those vendors! If you want to make a lot, or even what you're worth you'll want to list your items in the AH. When you first start playing there's a lot to take in, and it can be a bit overwhelming at times. But when you start getting the hang of the game, and how massive it really is. You'll need gold. Lots and lots of gold.
The easiest way to get gold is selling in the Auction House. This is your place to sell your items to other players who will need them. Always check the going price of your items before you list them. For example if you're about to sell a pair of leather gloves that require level 13 and have 19 armor 1 agility. Look at what other leather gloves that require level 13 are selling for. You might not find the exact pair that you have, and that's a good thing.
If no one else is selling the same pair as you, list them for a comparable price to the other level 13 items. If someone else is already listing the same pair you have, make yours just a little cheaper. You won't have to give them away, but make them just a few silver cheaper. If theirs is listen for 26 list yours for 24, and watch yours sell faster.
