It’s a dish that can be flavored, prepared and cooked in an endless amount of ways.

There are several kinds of steaks available in grocery stores and meat shops. Steaks vary from porter house and t-bone to succulent Wagyu steaks. It is important to buy fresh meat because a cold steak is a tough steak, meaning it will cool off the grill or pan. The perfect steak is cooked at a high temperature for a short amount of time. It will take you longer to cook cold steak and the more time the meat spends over the heat, the tougher it becomes. It’s best to cook meat after it’s been sitting at room temperature.

The fun part of preparing the steak is the seasoning. This step doesn’t have to be complicated. How you season the meat depends on your preference, but the perfect steak doesn’t need much more than salt and ground black pepper. Most cooks recommend kosher salt because its coarse crystals can really grab into the meat. If you want a juicier or more flavorful steak, you can try a liquid marinade.

Before placing the meat on the barbecue, brush the steak with butter to prevent the meat from sticking to the grill. The butter also provides a bit of moisture.

Beef could be cooked in several ways, depending on the meat’s tenderness, size and thickness. To cook more tender cuts, dry heat is often used because it traps moisture, which tenderizes tougher cuts. The length of time that you cook a steak is very important. Be sure to keep an eye on the grill and only leave the steaks on for a few minutes if you want them to be cooked rare or medium.
