Neighbourhood – Hidden gem of Kemptown

Visitors: 237

Walking down James Street on a majority of evenings out, eccentricity is commonplace. Deviating from the more conventional coffee houses and bars seen on high street corners, Neighbourhood certainly compliments Brighton’s renowned individuality and echoes the industrial feel of Brooklyn dive bars and east London hangouts. Filled with a heterogeneous mix of vintage décor, obscure antiques and objets d’art, it allows for a quite unexpected atmosphere, with something new to be seen with every visit.

Neighbourhood has succeeded in their bid to create a distinctive, independent bar in comparison to many of the generic chains that are visible throughout cities across the UK.

Divided over two floors with a 100ft heated garden and spread between an eclectic choice of themes and furnishings, Neighbourhood offers more than its fair share of seating, so don’t let its definably petite exterior fool you. It appears to unfortunately over looked by passers by having not recognised its full potential. Venturing inside is a must.

Hitting the target with their precept of “Great food, strong drinks and good times”, the Kitchen and Saloon offers a fantastic selection of hearty food, with separate menus for brunch and as night falls. With Brunch posing a selection of breakfast classics and tasty lunches, with an evening menu in favour of more American classics with great burgers being the main feature of a wide-ranging menu.

A choice of a lighter food selection is available alongside drinks and other refreshments, including an excellent kids menu. With drinks navigating away from obvious choices and centred on the world’s best lagers and beers, you’re treated to a considerable wine list, a choice of definitive cocktails and a concise yet worthy spirits menu with no mainstream brands in sight.

Neighbourhood won't disappoint you with a concise and quality spirits menu, a good wine list again steering away from the obvious choices, classic cocktails, drafts will again be high end beers and ciders that you don't get everywhere else!! This little gem caters for all ages and tastes throughout the day. The icing on the cake: you'll hear the best new tracks in deep house music world.
