What you see - Stunning ambiance, great location, prompt service but heavy on the pocket. That's The Water Front, a multi-cuisine restaurant-cum-bar located on the precincts of the Hussain Sagar Lake in the city. We checked it out for its readers and here's what we have to say.
The semi-dome structure, made of glass and steel, is impressive even without a trace of concrete in it. Kudos to Mumbai-based international interior designer, Prakash Mankar and Associates, who already have luxury hotels like The Park in Kolkata and Delhi in their work profile.
The interiors of the restaurant are pleasant what with the marine color lights reflected onto every table. Besides, the huge salt-water aquarium adds to the soothing ambience.
What you get - Though the restaurant serves Chinese, Indian, Thai and Tandoori cuisine, the Thai fare is claimed to be the specialty here. We decided to try the Thai special starter Satya Kaire Keare Koong simply because it was the first on the menu! It turned out to be Grilled Chicken Skewers served with peanut sauce and was worth a try. The same is available with lamb and prawns as well.
Moving on to the Indian fare, we tried the Tirang Paneer Tikka, which is diced paneer and the rich Kai Phad Mamuang, which is shredded chicken in a Thai tangy sauce with cashew nuts and rice apart from Paneer Peshawari with Kulcha. Our choice seemed perfect as the dishes were delicious to the core.
The Water Front also has an exquisite range of desserts including the Italian Tiramisu and the quintessential Qubaani ka Meetha. We tried the warm walnut brownie with vanilla ice cream. It proved to be a safe bet. The restaurant offers catering and home delivery services as well.
The verdict - Corporate lunches or romantic evening dinners - The Water Front is perfect for either of the two. The food is great to taste though the ambiance scores better. The costs are on the higher side. Nonetheless, it is a restaurant you would like to take a potential client or a date to, as it never fails to impress.
What you pay for a meal for two - Rs. 700 (Weekdays) Rs. 1,000 (Sundays).
