Many don’t understand the importance of proper storing of foods. They don’t realize that there is a great effect on their health if they don’t keep food properly. So what is really the deal if you don’t store food appropriately? Choosing right storage utensil like vacuum food storage bags plays a big role in making your recipes safe and fresh.

In conventional method, one of which is use of plastic containers, the flavor and freshness of foods will not last long because they come in contact with oxygen. Plastics cannot maintain the color and texture of food because bacteria molds and yeast can grow in them. Meats can have freezer burn because they will be dehydrated due to cold that also results to drying out of meat. Once meat is dry, it will not taste as what it should taste because plastic containers are not always airtight. If you are familiar on how to preserved home-cooked sardines, you will notice that cooked, as much as possible, don’t want to let air in the bottle or canister. They pumped the air out using vacuum pumps because it helps to make sardines last longer. Same principle as to storing meat, air should not enter the storage because it has harmful effect on them.

On the other, there are so many reasons why you have to use vacuum food storage bags when preserving your foodstuffs. Sealed and vacuum foods are proven to taste better, especially marinated, and can last longer. These storage bags are not limited to meat and fish only. They can also be used in cereals, breads, coffee beans, ground meat, fruits, cheeses, flour, sugar, rice, nuts and oils. It normally extends the life of meat, fruits or veggies when air is vacuumed out. Large cut meat can last up to 2-3 years, coffee beans is up to 16 months, berries up to 1 week, flour and sugar up to 1 year and cheese up to 4-8 months. It is really great food life extender especially for stocks that we don’t really eat everyday like flour and coffee beans. Plus, these bags are good prevention for humid and pest penetration.

You see, if you are unaware on how to store it properly you will be wasting a lot of food and money. Likewise, you and your family’s health are at large because you still don’t know that bacteria and fungi were already multiplying because of your improper storing.
