Olive Oil calories can be surprisingly high.

Now for many of us that doesn't equate with what we have been told of the health benefits of this most fantastic tasting oil.

Well there is no need to despair if you are regularly adding Olive Oil to your salads etc or using instead of inferior oils for cooking. Calories are not the be all and end all to our diet. It is the quality of those calories that is important. We should always strive to consume the best quality calories we can.

Olive Oil has many advantages over its competitors. But first the facts on the calories. A tablespoon of olive oil contains 120 calories, 14 grams of mostly unsaturated fat and no cholesterol. Which is a good sign. Virgin Olive Oil which is recommended whenever possible also contains important anti-oxidants.

Olive oil is associated with many health benefits from heart conditions to the easing of arthritis. It can help reduce cholesterol levels especially if substituted for your normal everyday use oil.

The great news when it comes to Olive Oil is that the calories are good calories. It is high in monounsaturated fats, contains almost no Sodium, has zero sugar content, zero cholesterol and seven percent Iron.

As we can see this is one healthy oil. It is recommended to try to switch to using this much healthier of oils to cut down on your cholesterol levels and also to reap the health benefits that those Olive Oil Calories are providing.
