The P8Z77-V LX overclocks well for those who are looking for more out of it however, consumers should be aware that some of its ports have taken away to accommodate the mainstream users.

The board looks great in its traditional ASUS scheme in a dark brown PCB with blue trim on the slots. It has four DIMM slots in color coded to easily identify the memory pairing, it supports up to 32GB with maximum of 2400MHz O. C. frequency.

There are two PCIe slot available but, only one of them supports the PCIe 3.0 Gen3 graphics card. You also got six SATA ports interface in standing position on the bottom corner of the board, two of them are SATA 6GBs and the remaining four are in SATA 3GB/s.

There’s also the two PCIe 1x slot and three legacy PCI slots. The back panel provides more video ports to fully utilize the display options, from D-Sub, DVI and HDMI to watch your favorite movies on wide screen. Furthermore, there are six USB ports, three audio ports, Optical S/PDIF out, LAN port, PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo and three audio port jacks.

More Features

If you plan to overclock this board, you got the 4 + 1 + 1 Power phase design but, on the negative side, it doesn’t provide an instant OC preset which is a bit loss for those who doesn’t have a technical knowledge. However, you can find that the UEFI BIOS feature is very handy when overclocking this board.

There’s even more feature the ASUS P8Z77-V LX has to offer such as the PCIe 3.0 Gen3 slot, Super USB 3.0, LocidLogix Virtu MVP, MemOK, Smart Connect Technology, Rapid Start Technology, TurboV, GPU boost, EPU, Smart Response Technology, and the Network iControl to name some.

Overclocking The ASUS P8Z77-V LX

Overclocking the ASUS P8Z77-V LX is barely simple, thanks to its UEFI BIOS feature that makes it possible for you to reach 4.7GHz speed limit with 3770K Ivy Bridge processor. Considering a budget priced board, you got an exactly the same performance as its pricey counterparts.

By setting the multiplier at x47 and leaving the base clock at 100MHz while increasing the voltage a bit higher at 1.3v you got the final result of 4.7GHz. That was an additional gain of 1.2GHz on the pinnacle of 3.5GHz default speed of the Core i7 3770K with optimum stability in its system performance.

The Verdict

Having a great performing board doesn’t mean high priced, this is proven by the ASUS P8Z77-V LX. Overclocking and Feature wise you got it all here without a doubt, although, it’s a bit short on the ports it doesn’t stop you from reaching certain heights same its the pricey competitors.
