Most enthusiasts and ruthless gamers are continuously seeking for the best AM3+ motherboard, I guess you too. Socket AM3+ motherboard are backward compatible with socket AM3 processors, as they always does, this is the reason why we like the AMD over intel, right?

To drive the socket AM3+ motherboard is the new 990FX nortbridge chipset in tandem with SB950 southbridge. The 990FX is almost identical to the previous AM3’s 890FX, they are made with the same silicon and the basic functions are almost the same. The good news is that, the new feature added to the new 990FX chipset is the support for the NVidia’s SLI multi GPU configurations.

Avid gamers will surely happy to hear this because, there’s a new way to explore for them after being attach with CrossfireX for quite some time, the reason is that they can’t use the SLI tandem in any AMD board. There’s no question about the goodness in CrossfireX but, giving some new flavor to your gaming world to have more freedom of choice is a big factor.

Another excellent feature from the 990FX chipset is the increase in transfer bandwidth. The previous HyperTransport 3.0 processor runs at only 5.2 GT/s while the new improve version with 3.1 HT has a faster bandwidth of 6.4 GT/s.
