How to Select the Best PDAs

Visitors: 247

With so many mobile computing options out in the market right now, it is rather difficult to choose the right solution for yourself without having to do hours of research, and most people definitely don’t have time for that. When people talk about mobile solutions and the like, they usually mean a laptop or a portable digital assistant, or PDA. Laptops are usually easier to pick out since you usually know what you are buying one for, whether it’s for media editing or just plain mobile gaming. But PDAs are tricky. There are so many different types of PDAs and each had different features. So here’s a breakdown of the top two PDAs on the market right now.

First, let us take a look at the Palm TX from the pioneer of portable digital assistants, Palm. These guys have been around the block and have released a winning package that is as user friendly as it is packed with excellent features. To start off, it is fully capable of wireless connectivity and has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfaces for you to choose from. This product isn’t ranked in the top two just because of its mobile features though. When you want to buy a PDA, it’s important that you look at the pocket pc software that comes with the device. The Palm TX has an impressive line up of software, including Palm OS 5.4, a great operating system, the ability to read and edit Microsoft office documents, and it has VersaMail, which helps you with all your emailing needs. On top of that, it’s also an mp3 player which supports up to 2 GB of space for all your songs. This is a great PDA to consider when you are ready to pick one up. It will stretch your wallets though at around $300.

Now, let us look at the Dell Axim X51v. Its best feature is probably the 3.7 inch VGA screen that supports resolutions up to 640x480. The picture will be sharp and definitely pleasing to the eye. Of course, this PDA will also support all your mobile computing needs with built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfaces as well. The Axim has state of the art PDA software development which includes Windows mobile 5, which has that familiar Microsoft look to it, an mp3 player as well, and it includes the new Microsoft Office Mobile Suite, allowing you to edit Word documents and Power Point presentations. The battery life on the Dell is slightly less impressive though, and it is more expensive at around $370

These PDAs will be able to handle all your business and casual needs, from sculpting your mobile workforce solutions, to listening to some tunes, they have it all.
