Multi Media Players - The Choices Are Yours

Portable multimedia players (PMPs) are electronic devices that are capable of storing and playing files in various media formats. Digital audio players (DAP) display images and play videos. These are also considered to be PMPs. They use data that has been stored on a hard drive, micro drive, or flash drive of a home computer.

There are three significant types of digital audio players.

Flash-based players hold audio files on internal or external media. For example, memory cards. Due to the limitations of technology, the storage capacity is rather small.

Hard drive-based players or jukeboxes are devices which read audio files from the hard drive. They have a far more larger capacity. This means that thousands of songs can be stored easily in one mp3 player.

The third to mention is Mp3 CD Players. These are simply devi8ces that can play audio files from a CD and CD-ROM.

As mentioned, several different formats can be used including audio, mp3, wav, video, mpeg, divx, xvid, bmp, jpeg, and gif. They typically feature a color LCD, or OLED screen. Some have the option of recording video and audio or come equipped with built in card readers. Graphics of the newer version provide awesome graphics to enhance your video quality. Mp3 players are extremely popularized and are cost effective. They vary in the amount of storage capacity which of course, has some bearing on price. Ipods are also widely significant in the arena of portable entertainment.

Podcasting is also a major craze of the times. A pod cast is simply a digital media file (or series of files) that’s distributed online using syndication feeds. It’s an automatic mechanism to which multimedia computer files are transferred from a server to a client. The provider acknowledges the existence of the particular file by making reference to it in another file known as the feed.

To be conservative, pod casters may search for an online pod cast directory. The original purpose of the podcast was to allow individuals to distribute their own creative radio shows. This tool can even be essential for teachers whom sometimes use it to record vocabulary, documentation, verify homework, etc. It certainly is a well thought out tool.

Another in the major crazes is Zune. It makes reference to Microsoft’s digital audio player, client software, and online music store. It plays music, videos, displays pictures, receives FM radio, and has the convenience of sharing files through wireless convenience with other Zune members. It’s upbeat with the quality and convenience of the current status in media competition.
