Who Can We Thank For the Future of Artificial Intelligence?

Visitors: 228

The world should express sincere appreciation to all those people who are making artificial intelligence possible in our civilization. Indeed, after studying this subject I think we should thank NASA and specifically Ames Research Center SimLabs, Goddard Library and JPL's Artificial Intelligence Research Group for so much background information on AI in Space, as their research, which has helped tremendously in so many projects.

This level of research and the discoveries are enjoyed by many innovators world wide who work hard to make Artificial Intelligent Systems a reality in our lives. Special mention at NASA should also go to the NASA Mars Rover Robotics Team Members, which I happened to meet while they were practicing at Arizona's Meteor Crater and later sitting in the Starbucks for discussions in Flagstaff, AZ.

It is amazing how far we have come with robotics and artificial intelligence and also how far we have gone with these tools - Mars for instance. What will the next generation of such exploration tools look like and how far and to what unknown solar systems might they travel? How is it that mankind can achieve so much in such a short time period?

Well let us consider some of the recent giant steps forward in robotics and AI Systems. One pivotal point came after the DARPA Challenge robotic autonomous vehicle competition in Barstow, CA and the follow-up in Prim, NV. It should be duly noted that the research being done at Stanford, MIT and Carnegie Mellon, as well as other top Universities, which are constantly updating their material and research projects has been a wealth of information to the scientific community and it has been very much appreciated.

Today our machines travel to Mars and after than who knows where they might go? Time will tell and the technology is forthcoming. What a wonderful time to be alive to witness all this.
