I am reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S 2…
I received my GS2 on Thursday last week and have barely put it down since!
To start with I would like to say how VERY impressed I am with the Samsung Galaxy 2 and that I hope you enjoy my review.
Now I can be quite fussy with mobile phones so was I was a bit dubious as to whether I would be impressed with this phone, but the Galaxy S 2 has more than surpassed my expectations.
The screen on the phone is by far one of the brightest I have ever seen! Crystal clear with bright, vivid colours. It featues a 4.3 inch super amoled capacitive touchscreen made with Gorilla Glass which is an unscratchable and unshatterable material.
The Samsung Galaxy S 2 measures 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm and is a very light phone weighing in at just 116g. The phone is also quite thin which I like as it feels very comfortable to hold. To the front top of the phone is the front facing 2mp camera which allows you to make video calls and to the rear you will find the 8 MP camera which has some very nice features including face and smile detection, touch focus, image stabilisation and Geo-tagging. The Galaxy S 2 also features a 1080p video camera which allows for full HD video.
For app fans there is plenty of choice to be had with Samsung Apps with thousands to choose from and at least 150,000 apps on the Android Market.
The Galaxy S 2 is running Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) which is the latest version of this increasingly popular OS.
The processor on the this handset is the Exynos 4210 using the cortex A9. It makes browsing the web extremely fast and you can run multiple applications without experiencing any visible slow down thanks to it’s dual core processing power. Everything loads so much faster on this phone than any other phone I have had in the past.
Some of the pre-installed apps include Gmail, a voice recorder, voice commands, places, photo editor, video maker, mini diary, an fm radio, IM and BBC Iplayer and of course you can add to these with a huge choice of downloadable apps. There are also 4 ‘hubs’ which I personally love; The Music hub is an app store and you can purchase and download songs; The Game hub (personally my fave) has an array of Gameloft Games that you can also download and purchase; The Readers hub which allows you to download ebooks and read online newspapers and magazines and finally The Social hub which allows you to keep track of all your social networks on this one app.
The Samsung Galaxy S 2 features 1 GB of dedicated RAM and has 16 GB of internal memory with the option of adding a Micro SD memory card which can support up to 32GB of additional memory. Plenty of space for pics and saved games as well as music and videos!
Overall I have been highly impressed with the phone and can say with hand on heart it will be taking the place of my usual mobile phone which was the iPhone 4.
Well done Samsung on a truly fab phone!
