Strategically Searching For the Right Things

Visitors: 214

You have come across a number you don't recognize and you've decided it's time to take matters into your own hands and investigate it. However, if you want to make your searching as quick and effortless as possible, it may be in your best interest to first have a searching strategy before you go ahead with your hunt.

What type of strategy should you have? Basically, it all comes down to knowing what online resources to turn to when an investigation is necessary. The following is what you need to keep in mind regarding the lookup resources that are available to you:

Search engines - An ideal choice when you know very little information about a person or thing, and all you really have is a name to which you don't know the proper spelling, etc. Search-engines may also prove somewhat helpful if you are trying to find free information on a wireless subscriber either through their name or cell number.

Online social networks - professional and personal social networking sites are a great way to track a person down online. This may be someone whom you haven't spoken to in years or whom you may have only met last week. These websites are used by millions of web consumers who post profiles that can provide you with their contact details, as well as some insight into their career, home life, interests and so on. It is a fantastic way to reconnect, and it's free.

Public record or background check sites - If you need to find out an individual's personal information, check to see if they have a criminal background, find out their phone numbers, location info, birth or death records, etc. , this type of paid search is the one you want.

Forward search - This is a smart place to start if you want a landline consumer's telephone number and address. Lookup their full name and city/state/zip code to see if they are listed in the public phone directory. Note: This type of investigating only works for published wire line numbers, private lines and cellphone digit info cannot be found this way as there is no universal directory.

Reverse telephone lookup - A phone number search should always be your first choice if you come across a 10-digit-number you don't recognize or you have a numerical code you can look-up. This is because it is a fast and easy search that can tell you the owner's name and location within a matter of seconds. You can trace any landline or cell phone number, though you will be required to pay a small fee to find out details regarding wireless telephones.

What you will discover is that when you know what resource you should use first, you'll likely end up saving yourself plenty of time and searching frustration.
