You Don't Have to Put Up With Telephone Harassment - Use a Reverse Phone Lookup

Visitors: 167

You may never get anything but pleasant and wanted phone calls, but that could change for you at any time. We never want to find that someone dislikes us enough to harass us, but it can happen - even when we have done nothing to deserve what they are dishing out. Even worse, someone may have a grudge that we know nothing about. When the phone calls start coming in, and we don't know why, the need to know who called is going to be very important.

If you don't know who is calling, but you have a number, you have something to go on. What can be a problem is when calls come up as restricted or unknown. If that happens, there is not much you can do on your own. You should keep a log of when the calls occur, and then call your phone company to see if they can do a phone trap. That will help them trace the number for you. You can also use the call trace code after each call if you have picked up the phone.

Those harassing someone are not always very smart about it, but most have some idea of how to hide who they are. They are not going to call you through their home, listed landline if they have any brains at all. However, they may assume that their cell phone or even the local payphone is untraceable. Whatever the case, if a number comes up, you have to see what you can do with it.

Try to see what you can find online first. Look up the area code and the prefix to see the general area from which a call was placed. You can also see if the search engines are any helps. The white pages may be a good place to run a reverse search, though it will only work with landline numbers. Try to use Wink.com to search through social networking sites for possible matches.

Don't forget to try sites designed to assist you with a reverse phone lookup . Enter the number and see what comes up. No matter what you find, do not take matters into your own hands. Turn over what you have to the police so the matter can be handled with as little danger to you as possible.
