Telecommunication has been growing at a rapid pace. Today everybody owns a phone in different forms like a cell phone or a landline. There has been a lot of crimes related with the phones and as a result government officials of many countries have bought several laws pertaining to the use of these. Keeping this in mind, several security services has been implemented.

One such service which was started for the subscribers was the Reverse phone Book. Using this service the subscriber will be able to know the origin of the incoming calls to his or her phones. Most of the service providers provide this service at monthly fees to its subscribers. A Reverse phone Book is a collection of all the phones numbers that are registered with the telecommunication service provider. The government authorities collect the database containing the information of all the subscribers from every service provider and integrate it to a single system. A little later, mapping is done with the subscriber number and the subscriber details.

The subscriber number is kept as the key in the database. Upon entering the subscriber number into the database, the information about the subscriber address, occupation, name, age is displayed. Information available in the Reverse directory may not be correct as there are chances that people get a phone connection providing false information. But the subscriber location and address will be correct as it is provided by the provider.

The Book is used by the subscribers to trace out the origin of the nuisance calls. This Book has been popular as it helps to reduce the cyber crimes in the state. The Book is also used by people to authenticate the callers from banks. It would be very beneficial to trace the callers in case someone requests for a credit card details for some transactions.
