Dish Network Is Extending The Horizon Of Programming Choices

I continue to be amazed at the sheer volume of content available with Dish Network Satellite television. Most people are probably aware of the incredible line up of sports, movies, shopping, 24-news channels, and about a hundred other things that you can watch anytime day or night, but with this latest offer of a free Sirius Satellite radio for you car, extending the horizon of programming choices is easier than ever.

SIRIUS Music is the best satellite radio available. I’ve been listening for a while and I’m still finding new stations to explore. And the really cool thing is that I can listen to it in my house and in the car on the way to work! Now, with SIRIUS Music on DISH Network, I get 65 channels of 100% commercial-free music 24 hours a day. There is a fabulous variety of contemporary type stations, some classic and genre specific musical channels, including Rock, Country, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rhythm & Blues, Urban, Dance/Electronic, Jazz and Classical choices. I’ve been listening lately to “Little Steven’s Underground Garage” on channel 6025. It’s full of some bands no one has ever heard of, but there are some great sounding guitar riffs and excellent drum work. Another channel I listen to a lot lately is the Outlaw Country channel. Of course, Sirius has a bunch of other country stations, with the latest hits from Nashville, but this one features singer songwriters, often from Austin Texas, and the Hill-Country region that just write the best lyrics and have voices that evoke an earlier time, with a sensibility of today’s artists. I’m thinking of a Guy Clark or John Hiatt, or perhaps a Jerry Jeff Walker.

There is another new reason to subscribe to Dish Network now, if you are an adult and care about someone that left conventional radio and made a permanent move to satellite. Howard Stern just made his unregulated radio debut. His fans that anticipated a barrage of four-letter words and long scatological tirades during Howard's first show on Sirius Satellite Radio found the show relatively tame and Stern even chided somebody for cursing. Perhaps he is mellowing in his old age. (He’s 51 now. ) Nevertheless, the great thing is that you can choose to listen to him or not. Now, you don’t have to live in the New York area, or some other major metropolitan area, he is available on Sirius Satellite radio and Dish Network is the best way to get Sirius.

The few times an off-color word did leave Stern's mouth, he followed quickly that he was trying not to curse liberally and scolded others for turning to profanity for profanity's sake. Another fun addition to his show is former “Star Trek" actor George Takei, who played Captain Sulu on the sci-fi television show. Takei will be an announcer on the show. That is what I love about Dish Network and Sirius, there is always something interesting on, and with Dish Network’s easy-to-use parental controls, the kids have access only to what you approve!
