The DIRECTV High-Definition H20 receives and decodes digital and HDTV signals from DIRECTV satellite broadcasts and local over-the-air broadcasts. It receives digital TV broadcasts in 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. You'll also get selectable 480i/480p/720p/1080i output via the HDMI and component video. The DIRECTV HD Satellite H20 Receiver features excellent features for satellite TV viewers. It has digital audio output, built-in HD tuner, has an on screen guide and is HDMI compatible. The unit is easy to set up just like any other Direct TV box, although it can take a few minutes to download updates.

The DIRECTV H20 HD Receiver has been designed to be simple and user-friendly. Most features on the receiver are self-explanatory with onscreen directions to lead you through them. It gives the TV viewer access to over 225 channels, including HD selections and over 30 premium movie channels. With DIRECTV Pay Per View you can watch movies, live sports, concerts, specials and Pay Per View selections in HD.

The Dolby Digital 5.1 and digital audio outputs means that you get richer sound along with the perfect picture. This satellite receiver has component video and optical audio outputs. Make sure you get HDMI cable for the best picture and sound quality. The picture quality on the non HD channels is great and the HD channels are very impressive. You can use the H20 to receive DirecTV's HD channels and you can attach an OTA antenna to fill in the HD channels that DirecTV doesn't offer yet. Its HDMI, HD component and S-video compatibility make it easy to accommodate all of your home theater components.

Because of its user friendly features, the DIRECTV H20 HD Receiver is very easy to set up and automatically detects off-air digital signals. This device is also great for the hearing-impaired who rely on closed captioning. It also offers some convenience features such as Caller ID, parental controls, simultaneous SD/HD outputs, channel banner, custom search and on screen guide.

While the H20 HD Receiver is compatible with DIRECTV broadcasts, you'll also need a subscription service and a satellite dish to receive the services you want. Even if you are not in the HD market yet, this receiver with its A/V connector versatility is worthy looking into for improved picture and sound quality.
