The Hidden Feature of the Motorola Mobile Phone

The hidden feature of the Motorola cell phone is that it is locked. The phone has a lock inside that insures that the phone is not used by any other network except the one that it is designed to use. When you are leasing a Motorola cell phone, more than likely you will not be allowed to unlock the phone. If you own the phone outright, however, you can certainly do with it whatever you please. This would include taking the steps to unlock cell phone. A mobile phone unlock is performed in a number of different ways. In order to unlock Motorola cell phones, you are going to need the subsidy code.

This code is unique to the Motorola phone, and each model has a different subsidy code. Motorola is not going to be very likely to reveal this code. If you use a search engine and find the right site, it is merely a matter of signing up and purchasing the code. Interestingly, many of the code sellers are located in the UK, but not all of them. In case they will be glad to sell you the code for your particular model phone. There are quite a few sites, and there is no reason not to shop around a little in order to find the right deal. There is also some software involved that will be needed to transfer the code to your unit. Another necessity is a USB cable for the actual download from your PC.

When you have received the subsidy code and it downloaded in your PC, you attach the USB cable to the phone and you can download the code into it which unlocks it. The way to insure that the unlocking was successful is to borrow the SIM card from another phone that uses a different network, and attempt a call. If the system is unlocked, the call will go through. If it is not unlocked, not only will the call not go through, but a message will be displayed telling you this. If you have received the correct code, the system should be unlocked. In addition to being able to use whatever network that you choose, the unlocked phone has now gained resale value. It will be easier to find a buyer for the phone as well. The locking feature is a hidden feature of the mobile phone because the maker does not wish to advertise that they are locking it to a particular network. The competition between mobile phone networks is intense, and the locking feature has been one of the results of this competition.
