The O2 XDA Graphite is another addition to the successful O2 XDA stable, leading the way forward for smartphones. The design is similar to earlier additions with dimensions of 109.5 mm x 46.9 mm x 18 mm and weighs in at 105 grams. The phone itself covers a vast array of network formats including UMTS, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. Set to be released towards the end of December 2006, the phone looks set to consolidate O2’s position in the smartphone market. The phone is powered by a Li-Ion battery which offers 200 hours standby time and 4 hours talk time.

As usual with this style of phone, the O2 XDA Graphite is dominated by the enlarged TFT display screen on the front of the handset which if 2.2 inches in diameter, offers 240 x 320 pixel resolution as well as supporting 65,000 colour variations. The memory capacity is an impressive 64 MB RAM and also offers 128 MB of Flash ROM, together with the option to add additional memory capacity via a USB connector - other data transfer formats include GPRS, 3G, WLAN and the ever popular Bluetooth.

The O2 XDA Graphite also supports all of the standard messaging services including SMS, MMS, email and Instant Messaging which are possible because of the powerful WAP 2.0 browser which includes xHTML and standard HTML website access. There is also a rather impressive 2.0 megapixel camera which offers 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution and which supports the standard still picture function and video clip functionality. The O2 XDA Graphite also supports the growing video conferencing market which is becoming more and more critical for the business market.

The O2 XDA Graphite also offers a vast array of music and game offerings with a number of JAVA games already pre-installed. The music formats supported include MP3, WMA, WAV, AMR-NB and AAC player - offering entertainment and relief for those on the move. There is also a useful video and audio album option, which allows you to save your favourite clips. The O2 XDA Graphite is a smartphone and as you would expect it offers a vast array of personal organiser options, including calendar, calculator, meeting scheduler, clock, alarm, etc. The phone is a sleek polished design which will appeal to the mass market, and in particular the business phone user. Simple to use, yet very powerful, the O2 XDA Graphite seems like a natural progression in the O2 XDA series.
