This is the introduction to your resume and if it is not written well your resume may never get looked at. This is a big deal. You need to know how to write your cover letter so that you can get your foot in the door.

You should customize each cover letter for each job that you are seeking. This will show that you know what you are applying for and are very interested in the position. You need to include an address and phone number on the top of your cover letter. Never use titles like Mrs. unless you are 100% sure of the marital status of the person that will be reading your letter. However, you should address the person directly in your cover letter. Also, include a date on every cover letter you write and sign it in only blue or black ink.

You will want to start the letter by mentioning the job position you are applying for and a reference number if there is one. You should also mention where you saw the listing for the position. This is important so that the reader knows exactly what you are after right away.

Next, you need to mention why you want to work for the company you are seeking employment at. Then, you want to mention why they should hire you and what you are going to be bringing to the table for them. This is where you get to brag a little when you learn how to write a cover letter.
